staycation or ONE DAY POOL PASS at THE canvas hotel in dallas, TX

If you don’t already know, a city view is one of my favorite views. As a small town Kansas girl, I always dreamed of the day I would live in the BIG city. The tall buildings, the rush of traffic, the people…it has always inspired me to be more and do more. Important people live in the city, right? At least that’s what I always thought. Lol

So you can imagine the rush of adrenaline that I felt as I made my way up to the roof top pool at the CANVAS Hotel, in the big ole’ city of Dallas, Tx, Monday afternoon. To be quite honest, you’d think that after living in DFW for the last three years I would no longer be picking my jaw up off the ground as I stare in amazement of the beautiful city skyline, but I’m still just in aww of it. It’s truly breathtaking.

What’s crazy is that I found this little hidden gem on the south side via TikTok. Isn’t that crazy? Oh how the social media world continues to evolve. Orlando and I had been craving that summertime feeling due this whole COVID mess and after two failed attempts of going to the beach we decided that maybe a #staycation would be a little more reasonable. Of course we knew there were several hotels in downtown with rooftop pools but I wasn’t sure if I was willing to spend that much just to go to the pool when we live 20 minutes from downtown. Luckily right before I bite the bullet, I found the CANVAS Hotel and they had INCREDIBLE rates that I was totally down to spend and the views from the pool seemed to be exactly what I was envisioning. Ohh and it was!

Perks

  • Affordable Rates
  • Pet Friendly (HUGE plus for us)
  • Rooftop pool and lounge overlooking the skyline.
  • Day passes to the pool. (What we ended up doing)
  • Event Space
  • Gorgeous, you can get all the #instagramworthy photos.
  • Full Service Restaurant and Bar

The Rooms

Like I said, we didn’t end up staying but we definitely will be in the future. It’s not your typical hotel scene. The entire place is stunning. Very mid century modern, lots of art work from local artist that consistently rotate, and vaulted ceilings. **Insert heart eye emoji here**

Pricing

  • Rooms ranging from $117-180 when I was scouting them out. Of course this all probably varies with COVID.
  • $20-35/per person day passes to pool
  • Food & Drink at the rooftop lounge is a little pricey in my opinion but just like anywhere you pay for convenience + their food looks amazing. From gourmet salads, flat breads, and more.

Fun in the Sun

Orlando and I went on a Monday, it was so peaceful, the views were breathtaking, and we had a nice little day date soaking in the vitamin D. I definetly recommend checking it out as a weekend getaway or little staycation. You have downtown within walking distance, food, music, and a fantastic pool, what more could you need? If you live in the area the day pass was great and the pool alone was an experience to be had.
